Lautaro Martinez- Argentina’s Next No.9

Throughout the Years Argentina have been blessed with top quality strikers. From the days of Gabriel Batistuta and Crespo to of more recent times with the likes of Higuain, Tevez, Aguero, Lopez, Milito and so many more. One more to add to this list is Racing Club Striker, Lautaro Martinez who has been targeted by many clubs around the world.

The 19-Year-Old broke onto the scene last season after getting himself 5 goals in just 11 starts for the top flight Argentine club. His form for his club combined with his superb form for the Argentina U20 side has ultimately turned heads and many clubs have sent scouts from all around the globe to keep a close eye on his talent as he could be the next big thing from Argentina. Martinez featured for Argentina at the Recent U20 World Cup in Korea and he had a mixed tournament to say the least. On his first game against England he was sent off but when he came back to play Guinea he showed the world what he was made of and he scored 2 absolutely superb goals. He Finished the Tournament with 2 goals in just 2 games.

At just 5’7″ Martinez is a lethal finisher who posses great dribbling ability and for that reason it allows him to play in multiple positions along the front line including on the wings and as a number 10. He is also a very quick player who can get in behind to finish off his chances well so it is little wonder why the likes of Arsenal and Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on him to try and lure his services to their clubs. It is rumoured that Martinez’ value is around €8m which in today’s market is a bargain price so we will have to see if either club wants to take a gamble on this great young player in the near future.

While he may not be a regular at his current side of Racing Club, Martinez still wants to stay one more year to continue his development with the top flight side which can be respected as most young players would jump at the chance to play for a side like Real Madrid or Arsenal. I have no doubt by the end of this season Lautaro Martinez will be the name on everyones lips and maybe even a call up to the national side. We will just have to wait and see as Martinez has the potential to be Argentina’s next star.
