In the past week Iran booked their place in the 2018 Russia World cup after an 2-0 win vs Uzbekistan. Iran smashed their group and have not only lost 0 games along the way but have also conceded 0 goals as well which is extremely impressive. A player who was a big part of their success was 23-year-old Milad Mohammadi who was arguably one of Iran’s best players. The left back was monumental to the success of his nation after playing in 7 of the 8 games in the 3 round of qualification. Mohammadi is rated highly among many who have watched him but surprising he is not known well by some in the world of football which is unfortunate because of how good he actually is.
Milad Mohammadi currently plys his trade in tr Russian Premier League which is home to a few other Iranian players such as: Sardar Azmoun (who was also a key figure in Iran’s Success), Reza Shekari and Saied Ezatolahi. He plays for the side Terek Grozny who finished 5th place. Mohammadi was also a key figure for his club and he managed to play 25 games for his side, scoring just 2 and assisting 4 which was the highest any defender managed to get.
The Iranian international joined Terek Grozny from relegated side Rah Ahan, who used to play in the Iranian Top flight, for a small fee which looks like the bargain of the century after his performances for both club and country. Mohammadi is a powerful left back who is great going forward and with a killer left foot he can be a nightmare for most teams as shown with his performances. When the world cup does come around Milad Mohammadi will definitely be one to watch out for as he will continue to be a key figure for this Iran side which has done so exceedingly well and I for one cannot wait to watch them in Russia.
