Patson Daka- Taking The World By Storm

With the U20 World Cup starting in a couple of weeks’ players will be preparing themselves for an opportunity for not only silverware but also to expose your talent to the world in the hope of breaking into their sides first teams or for some getting a dream European move. For Zambian forward Patson Daka, he will want to continue his fine spell from his nations recent win at the U20 AFCON into an even bigger stage. The 18-year-old has also been turning heads for his side and recently bagged himself a 5-year contract with Austrian Giants, Red Bull Salzburg.

His most recent success came in the form of the UEFA Youth League where his goals where a vital part of Red Bull Salzburg winning the entire competition. In both games, he played he came off the bench and scored vital goals including the equaliser in the final against Benfica after they went 1-0 down. What’s more is that the very next day Daka played yet another game, this time for FC Liefering, where he managed to score another goal and that right there just shows his class that he can perform in 2 games, including one huge game, in such a short space of time.

In the international front Patson Daka has been just as key, if not more so. He won the best player of the tournament award at the 2017 African Cup of Nations where he was a talisman in the hosts victory. The Salzburg forward also managed to bag himself the opener in the final against Senegal and it is solid proof that he is that much of a big game player. The 18-year-old finished the tournament as joint top goal scorer alongside fellow countryman, Edward Chilufya and South African talent, Luther Singh with 4 goals respectively.

With the recent 5-year contract signing with Red Bull Salzburg it is clear to see that they also see him as a top prospect in the world of football so it could only be a matter of how he performs on the world cup stage before he gets his big break in the first team. I would not be surprised to see Daka finish as top scorer in another International tournament due to to the talent he possesses but we will just have to wait and see for ourselves because even if he doesn’t perform we know that he will leave everything on the pitch for his nation.
