Kostas Fortounis- Ready For A Change?

Loyalty in football is dying out and now less players will stay at their clubs to seek bigger and in most cases better or just to receive a bigger pay check. However, for Olympiakos star man, Kostas Fortounis he is a player who has rejected some of Europe’s top clubs to stay and win trophies with the Greek giants.

Fortounis has become a hero amongst Olympiakos fans since his arrival at the club in 2014 from FC.Kaiserslauten with his top quality performances in the league and even in Europe. During his time at the club Fortounis has won 2 league titles and 1 greek cup while on a personal level he was the top scorer and top assister in the 2015/16 season. The Greek midfielder was rumoured on multiple occasions to be linked with both Arsenal and Tottenham however, he decided to commit his future to Olympiakos until 2020 which was huge for both parties.

The attacking midfielder is recognised for his ability to create opportunities for his teammates and also knows how to find the net. He is also a very fast player which helps him massively in the position he plays and it certainly shows with him being arguably one of the Greek Superleague’s most talented players. His talent doesn’t just show domestically and Arsenal fans will remember him for his fantastic performance against them in the champions league last season. His 2 assists in a 3-2 win against the gunners were the difference and the world got to witness a fresh new young talent.

With his performances for club being of top quality it may only be a matter of time before we see Kostas Fortounis make the step up into one of Europe’s top 5 league. However, if he continues to put loyalty before money and stays at Olympiakos then it is only fair that he is regarded as a club legend because not many players in his situation would do the same as him so he deserve respect and at only 24 years old who knows what will happen in this talented players career.
