Olarenwaju Kayode- Ready For The Big Time?

Nigeria have, still are and always will be producing some of the best young talent in the world of football whether it would be back in the day with the likes of Jay-Jay Okocha and Nwankwo Kanu to more modern talents coming through today with the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho, Victor Osimhen, Alex Iwobi and so very many more. But there is one Nigerian who has seemed to be setting the league alight in some of Europes lesser known leagues and that man is 23 year old Olarenwaju Kayode.

Olarenwaju or Larry as he is otherwise referred to is a striker who plays for Austrian giants Austria Wien and so far this season has bagged himself 14 goals and 6 assists in 33 games in all competitions which is very impressive for a man who has made his journey around the world playing in over 6 different leagues in just 7 years. The former Nigerian U20 international’s form has not been going unnoticed as clubs in the top 5 leagues of European football have been reportedly interested in signing the Nigerian including Stoke City, Spurs and Celtic. But even though he is in great form is Larry actually ready for a shot in the big time?

Olarenwaju is a player who possesses an unbelievable amount of pace which sees him burst past players with ease to score goals. However, do not let his record fool you as he is known for taking quite a few chances before he manages to score which is something the player will have to work on in order to be fully prepared for the potentially daunting task ahead. Even though this maybe a problem the 23 year old is still a fantastic young talent, who has not only scored for multiple clubs but has also scored for his country as he scored 6 for his U20 national side. Another one of Kayode’s strengths is his skills and dribbling ability which added to his pace makes him a scary threat but must cut out his tendency to dive in when he makes his step up.

With the season only a few months away from its climax Olarenwaju still has time to rack up his tally even more and turn even more heads than he has already, and i have no doubt that in the summer multiple clubs will be battling it out for the Talents signature who is in a long list of great emerging Nigerian stars, and who knows what the future holds for him. maybe a call up to his senior national team may just be around the corner.
