On Tuesday 19th of Januray QPR wasted no time in brining in a replacement for star man Charlie Austin. They brung in former St Ives Town Striker Conor Washington after having a brilliant season with Peterborough United scoring 15 goals for a fee believed to be in the region of £3m. And this brung alot of skepticism amongst some of the QPR fans. They believed that paying £3m for someone who has only recently had a good run of goalscoring form as a replacement for arguably one of QPR’s best Strikers in the past 20 years is not a smart decision.
I believe that the decision to buy Conor Washington was a great decision by the club. Conor has a brilliant work rate and hunger that is what you need in a striker. Also he is a very pacy and strong player which can take him along way in the championship. And at the age of 23 he is a gem. He is the kind of striker who has to have a few chances before he scores a goal but a certain Andre Gray was the same at Brentford and look at where he is now.The main reason he has suddenly had a run of goalscoring form is for 2 reasons. 1) Peterborough saw alot of potential in him and gave him confidence to progress as a player and we all know that confidence is key in football. 2) he recently teamed up with a company called SuperiorStriker which has helped him alot more in front of goal and made him the player he is now. And with the right coaching I believe that Conor Washington will do brilliantly for QPR and will bring goals to the club, he will even make a brilliant strike partnership with Sebastian Polter who is in top form right now.
Conor Washington has already made 2 appearances for QPR from coming off the bench and has already show fans just a taster of what is to come when he almost got an assist in the game against Wovles where he brung it down brilliantly cut inside and played a nice ball to tee up Tjaronn Chery who unfortunately hit the post but those few moments have got QPR fans excited for what is next with him. Will he become the next Charlie Austin? Only time will tell.
